Artist's Comments

Hello all!

Thanks for visiting this page!

This, while the picture can't really do much justice, is one of the most solid bracelets, meaning I've got a lot going on with design, durability and weight thrown in for good measure. I've set a total of three blue fiber optic stones, because I love the way they refract light when worn, and while there's a Celtic motif, it stands on it's own as something classic and timeless...or that's what other's have said. So, I'll take their word for it. :) It's one of my favorites...I hope you like it too!

Celtic Queen Bracelet Cuff by ~camias. An openwork sterling silver cuff bracelet with three blue fiber-optic stones. The suggester said that "I especially liked this piece of art, both because of its unique quality and because of the intricacy of the silver crafting. I've never seen something like this on deviantART before, something that appears both comfortable and lovely at once." (Suggested by =Eastern-Star and Featured by `Kitten-of-Woe)

I should probably upload a picture of me wearing it instead! :) Yes, it's a cuff bracelet...the ends, in the back, don't close in all the way so it can be adjusted to fit a particular wrist size. I'm glad you like it! Thank you for commenting!

How funny! This would make a great ring but this piece is about 5 1/2 inches in circumference. Maybe I need a wrist picture...

What do you mean fiber optic stones?
Are they somehow designed to carry light?
I have used a technique pioneered by Rene Lalique in setting stones in an open backed bezel so as to take advantage of refracted light.

Hi,

Fiber optic material is synthetically made and meant to imitate the cat's eye effect. This material is referred to as fiber eye and consists of tightly packed parallel glass fibers are transparent along their length. When the material is polished, perpendicular to the fiber direction, and with a cabochon cut, the special phenomena, a cat's eye effect, is evident. It's the way the gemstones are made that refract light when the stone is held under lighting conditions. They can be found on eBay!
