This headpiece is shown at a side view. I've made roses and leaves intertwining throughout the entire piece.

Were the roses already made? One of my friends wanted to cast a rose and that didn't really work out. Very nice job on this.

I made the roses myself but I didn't cast them. I take individual sheets of silver and cut out a pattern, then fuse them together to create the rose. I have seen all kinds of things casted, from bugs to flowers and I think the flowers, of any kind, are the trickiest of all to pull off.

Ah. What gauge of sheet did you use? You did a very good job of soldering them together. Depends on the bug. I tried casting a wasp or a hornet and it didn't do really well.
I have a question...I am in the process of making my first head piece using the lost wax process and I was wondering what do you use for the shape of the head piece???? I was thinking of using a head band...what do you suggest, if you don't mind telling me=D

Hi there! Actually, I haven't casted any of these pieces so I'm not quite sure how I can help. I make each one, by hand, because I don't have the casting equipment large enough to handle something of this size. I use a large neck mandrel and lots of hammering to get it to size for a headpiece. :)
